CALL YOUR REPS: Stop the Federal Book Ban Bill!

Your voice matters, and together we can help protect the freedom to read.

The Federal Book Banning Bill is moving forward in Congress and raises serious concerns about federal pressure on what books and educational materials schools can provide students.

One of the most effective ways to influence this debate is by calling your elected officials directly. Congressional offices track every call they receive, and a surge of constituent voices can make a real difference.

A brief phone call from you can help lawmakers understand that their constituents value intellectual freedom, local decision-making, and access to diverse books.

Here is a script to help you call:

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from, [CITY, STATE]

I'm calling to ask [REP NAME] to oppose H.R. 7661, a bill that opens the door for nationwide book banning. I am appalled at how this bill is being used to target marginalized communities and deepen the divisions in our country. It claims to be about protecting children, but it is really aimed at giving the federal government the power to control whose stories are on shelves. It is censorship and a blatant violation of our First Amendment, and wild government overreach.

[OPTIONAL]: Instead, I urge [REP NAME] to support H.R. 6440, the Right to Read Act, and H.R.7691, the Fight Book Bans Act to fund education and increase student literacy across America.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
