We're fighting against several proposed censorship measures across the United States as well as hundreds of attempts to ban books in school and public libraries.

Politicians in state legislatures across the country have filed bills that are detrimental to our school libraries and public libraries. If enacted, these bills will make it difficult for educators and school librarians to do their jobs public libraries would be negatively impacted. Some of these measures could also lead to arresting librarians as a result of their commitment to free speech and access to library materials. Other measures offer bounties of $10,000 to anyone who wants to ban a book.

We've been fighting back and if you're tired of reckless legislation like this, we need your help!

Throughout this crisis we have been tracking state legislation, launching petitions, training advocates, and partnering with local advocacy organizations while providing funding and other support to advocates on the ground.

We've won in places like Marathon County, Whitesburg, and North Hunterdon-Voorhees NJ School District and we helped the Ridgeland Library raise over $110,000 when the mayor withheld the library funds because he didn't like the books on the shelves.

But there is so much more that needs to be done. The organizations seeking to ban books are well-funded and highly networked.
