The Georgia House Higher Ed Committee is hearing SB390, a bill to prohibit the expenditure of ANY funds--state, local, or private on the state library association and ALA. This proposed legislation would cut off library staff grant funding and many professional resources. It will severely impact Georgia Libraries' ability to attract and retain excellent staff.
The Georgia Library Association is asking all library advocates to tell their state Representatives to support libraries and reject SB390! EveryLibrary is proud to support and amplify this call to action. No state should legislate against any professional membership organization, least of all the librarians. This is a politicized attack on our colleagues in Georgia and needs to be stopped. Please send your email today.
