Supporting Pro-Library Campaigns in Hamilton, Indiana and Houston, Texas

We're proud to support campaigns like these across the country with pro-bono consulting, data, direct and indirect funding, and digital tools.

We're supporting the fight against horrific attacks on libraries and the freedom to read in Houston Independent School District in TX and Hamilton East Public Library in Indiana.

Hamilton East Public Library in Indiana
The HEPL Board of Trustees has written a new Collection Development Policy because some of the trustees and a handful of community members have deemed the books inappropriate for minors.

The policy will result in approximately HALF of the teen books (and a lesser number of juvenile books) being relocated and intermixed with books in the general collection.

This is expected to cost well over $110,000 and is fiscally irresponsible.

We're proud to support the campaigners on the ground by hosting their petition on Fightforthefirst.org as well as providing pro-bono consulting, funding, and digital tools to help them win.

Please sign and share the petition today.

This included books like "Sunshine" and "Hey Kiddo" by Jarret Krosoczka

As well as "A Fault in Our Stars" by John Green

Houston Independent School District
Houston School libraries will be shut down in Houston Independent School District in order to be converted to disciplinary spaces where kids with behavioral issues will be sent.

Send an email to the school board and then share the petition on Facebook and Twitter

The district superintendent stated that they will eliminate access to libraries, librarians, and media specialists in predominantly low- and middle-income neighborhoods.
