An amendment to the state budget that would completely defund the New Hampshire State Library has just been introduced in the House Finance Committee. Amendment 2025-1300h is a dangerous amendment that came out of nowhere. It is not welcome, it is not useful, and it would devastate the state library and impact every town across the state.
This is a purely political push by special interests—not by the people of New Hampshire. Nobody is asking for this, but extremists are trying to score political points. The result would be chaos and hardship for local libraries, small towns, families, students, and seniors.
We need your voice—right now. The vote is on Tuesday, March 25, 2025!
Email your Representative today and tell them to vote NO on amendment 2025-1300h and any other budget proposal that defunds the State Library. Then, please share this message widely. We must stop this before it goes any further.
The New Hampshire State Library matters to every library and every town. Let’s fight to keep it strong, funded, and free to all.
