PETITION: Support the Right to Read in Defense Department Schools and Academies

Military students deserve the rights they or their families are fighting for.

Goal: 10,000 signatures

Librarians and School Information Professionals have been directed to review books for indications of what an executive order called “gender ideology” or “discriminatory equity ideology.”

Nearly 400 books, including works by Maya Angelou, Ibram X. Kendi, and authors documenting the Holocaust and American lynching, were removed from the Naval Academy’s Nimitz Library under orders from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Books that could fit those categories will be placed off-limits and students will be denied access to them.

Schools and academies have also been told they can’t host celebrations or events for Black History Month and other cultural observances.

I support the freedom to read in Department of Defense schools and military academies and believe that these students should not have their freedoms restricted through government regulations.
