PETITION: Rescind the Federal Funding Freeze

Federal funding for libraries, museums, and archives is guaranteed annually by Congress and authorized under law. Please take action today!

Trump's OMB Memo has demanded a freeze on all federal grants and for all agencies to “temporarily pause all activities related to obligations or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance.”

The memo also calls for each agency to perform a “comprehensive analysis” of grant recipients' political and social ideology before resuming any funding.

Essentially, Trump requires a loyalty test from government agencies before he allows them to resume their work. This is undoubtedly un-American and likely illegal.

While many outlets are reporting that the freeze has been rescinded, the Whitehouse Press Secretary has made it clear that only the memo was rescinded and not the funding freeze.

We are asking Congress to rescind the Federal Funding Freeze.

Federal funding for libraries, museums, and archives is guaranteed annually by Congress and authorized under law.

A simple memo should not overrule the American system of checks and balances.
