Run for Something

It's time for library supporters like you to step up and run for something!

This Banned Books Week, don’t just fight back. Step up.

Banned Books Week reminds us what’s at stake.

Across the country, decisions about what people can read, which books stay on library shelves, how libraries are funded, and whether librarians can do their jobs are being made by elected officials.

Which is why we need people like you, who care about libraries, to be our next elected officials.

Too often, library supporters aren't the people sitting in those seats.

We can sign petitions. We can send emails. We can show up at meetings. We can fight every book ban as it happens.

But there’s another way to fight for the freedom to read:

Run for office.

We created Read. Lead. Run. to help people who love libraries explore what it takes to become candidates for public office.

Start a monthly donation, and we'll send you these great socks as a thank you!

This Banned Books Week, we're asking you to do something bigger than reading a banned book.

We're asking you to consider becoming the person who can help stop books from being banned in the first place.

Visit ReadLeadRun.org and learn how you can take the first step.

Because libraries don't just need supporters.

They need champions on the ballot.
