Tell Trump, Hands Off the National Archives!

The National Archives safeguards our collective history, protects the public's right to know, and ensures transparency and accountability in government.

Trump has promised to replace the Archivist of the United States because of the agency’s role in the stolen documents case against him.

There's just one problem with that.

She wasn't even in office at the time!

“We will have a new Archivist,” Trump told radio host Hugh Hewitt on Monday.

Trump's anger at the National Archives stems from it alerting the Department of Justice about potential problems with Trump’s handling of classified documents in early 2022.

This led to a dramatic FBI search of Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago and charges against him.

The current Archivist, Dr. Colleen Shogan, the first woman in the role, was not appointed until May 2023.

Presidents must legally provide most of their records to the National Archives once they leave office.

According to the federal indictment, when the National Archives realized that some documents were missing from its collection after Trump left office, it repeatedly asked that he return them. Yet Trump failed to do so.

Now, President-Elect Trump wants revenge, and we know that he won't stop at firing the Archivist.

We believe his so-called DOGE advisory body will go after any of his perceived enemies, including the National Archives itself.

We need people like you to take a stand today.
