Two Big Losses for Book Banners This Week!

At these Tuesday's elections, Americans proved that they were willing to stand against book banners and book burners. We have to keep winning!

You might remember Valentina Gomez, a far-right MAGA enthusiast who promised to burn books if she was elected to Missouri Secretary of State.

Well, at Tuesday's Primary election, she received less than 7.5% of the vote.

That's how much Missourians hated her rhetoric.

In Michigan, we're proud to announce that the Alpena County Library will not close its doors after voters renewed the library tax levy - despite a strident campaign to defund it. This was a contentious election fueled by inflammatory campaigning by frustrated censors and heightened by the dismissal of the board of trustees two weeks ago.

While the library's funding future is secure, the fight to safeguard the right to read and the integrity of the library continues.

EveryLibrary was proud to support the library's board and staff on their Informational Campaign. We were contacted six weeks ago and were able to quickly help them set up effective communications about the election facts. Not enough people knew that this was a must-pass election; without the levy, the library would close in January.
