We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Political Video Editor/Creator Volunteer. This role involves producing engaging video content for political campaigns, news, and commentary, ensuring that messaging is accurate, impactful, and aligned with supporting libraries. These videos may be used on platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, etc... or OTT advertising. The ideal candidate will have an interest in libraries and political issues, media, and storytelling, with a knack for creating visually compelling content that resonates with an audience of library supporters.
Key Responsibilities:
Video Production and Editing
Edit and assemble raw footage into high-quality, shareable videos for social media, web, and other digital platforms.
Ensure videos adhere to brand guidelines, accurately convey political messaging around libraries, and maintain a high standard of quality.
Add graphics, animations, and other visual elements to enhance the video’s impact.
Content Creation
Conceptualize and produce original video content on a variety of political issues concerning libraries, including campaign ads, issue-based videos, news summaries, and thought leadership pieces.
Write and develop storyboards and scripts in collaboration with the digital director.
Political Messaging and Tone
Stay current on political news, events, and key issues impacting libraries to ensure content is relevant and timely.
Adapt messaging and video style to appeal to target demographics, balancing accuracy with engaging storytelling.
Collaboration
Work closely with the digital director to optimize videos for platform-specific requirements (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.).
Coordinate with the content, design, and campaign teams to align on messaging and campaign goals.
Post-Production
Manage color correction, audio balancing, and other post-production tasks to achieve a polished final product.
Maintain organized files, version control, and project backups.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in video editing and production, preferably with a political, news, or media background.
Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and other relevant tools.
Strong understanding of political issues, current events, and the media landscape.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex political ideas into visually engaging narratives.
Creative thinking, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to solving problems.
Familiarity with social media platforms and experience in optimizing video content for engagement.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Motion graphics and animation experience.
Experience in political campaigns or news media.
