SEND AN EMAIL: Stop Trump's Proposed Elimination of Federal Funding for Libraries

Page 56 of Trump’s proposed budget calls for the closure of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The ONLY source of federal funding for libraries.

Trump's recently released budget proposal would completely eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services operates with a relatively modest budget compared to its nationwide reach. Yet its impact touches every state and nearly every community. The funding it provides is often leveraged by state and local partners, multiplying its effect and enabling innovative programs that might not otherwise exist.

For many communities, IMLS support helps maintain essential services that residents depend on daily. Without it, libraries and museums would face difficult choices, potentially reducing programs, limiting access, or scaling back services that help people learn, work, and connect.

If IMLS is eliminated, local libraries and museums will lose critical support that millions of Americans rely on every day.

We need you to contact Congress today and help stop this attack American Libraries!
